Mosaic

This short comic I made in 2025 for Storyboard Zine project touches on how it is unavoidable to be shaped by the loss you will experience in life. It is how we choose to deal with it, the comic showing that it is not a process that should be experienced alone.

The project is inspired by my own experience healing from romantic and platonic breakups. Hoping to give form to my own emotions and share what I have learned.

The comic is mostly made with traditional media and touched up digitally. The use of color was one of my main focus points, letting it tell a story on its own. It was a fun challenge to complete within a shorter time period.

De Keuze van Jou

In 2024 I created an informative risograph zine about what plays into the decision to have children. It was important for me to touch upon the taboo and societal expectations surrounding parenthood in my writing and illustrations.

This was my first time working with the riso printing technique. It allowed me to experiment with a limited pallet of very vibrant colours. The printing technique forced me to go about in a different way whilst creating the illustration which was a nice challenge.

It was very important to me that the zine was not only cohesive in its design and text but also it’s feeling. Conveying emotion through the illustrations supporting the accompanying text.

The Unending Chase

In 2023 I minored in Graphic Novel at AKV St. Joost where I spent time developing, writing and illustrating my comic The Unending Chase.

It is a story about the paradox that gets created by the pursuit of happiness. It discusses apathy, rediscovery, and reflection.

The theme of this story is; You will always carry a part of those you love/have loved with you. This sentiment is comforting and terrifying, but both exist in harmony.
